No. You can review a due word where it appears in your browsing. Seeing a highlight alone does not count as a completed review. Flashcards are useful when you want a focused session or when your saved words do not appear again in what you read.
You control selection translation, saved-word highlights and inline practice separately. You can pause them for a tab or a whole website. The extension needs permission to work on a site, and some pages or documents are not supported. A word only resurfaces when it actually appears in eligible text.
